Boomercize

"Boomercize" is a group exercise experience designed for the active adult (30 to 80 years old) who has begun to notice the slow, but inevitable decrease in their ability to perform life tasks as well as they did in their youth. The normal aging process causes progressive weakness throughout the body, a loss of flexibility, and a reduction in balance and coordination. This program is designed specifically to address the body parts most affected by the passage of time, and restore the participants' confidence and ability to perform optimally in their life tasks and athletic pursuits. From the weekend gardener to the marathon runner, this class will provide each participant with vigorous and fun exercise designed to improve strength, flexibility, power, core stability, coordination, and functional abilities.

Over 90% of hip fractures are from falls. In 20% of females this fracture is fatal with 20% never regaining the ability to walk without assistance. The current total cost of hip fractures in the US is estimated to be approximately 20 billion annually.

Aquatic Therapy Program

The McCune, Ainslie and Associates aquatic therapy program is a program that employs the gentle environment of a pool to assist in rehabilitation. One-on-one assistance is employed in assisting patients in the specific exercises prescribed for their particular problem. Pool based therapy is ideal for providing an "anti-gravity" environment for the rehabilitation of lower extremity fractures, low back pain and post-operative conditions. When in the pool, water pressure on the body aids in the reduction of inflammation and edema and the reduction of pain. Free from the influence of gravity, exercises can be performed more easily and without pain. Your physical therapist or doctor may suggest that you participate in an aquatic therapy program as a part of your rehabilitation.

Women's Health

Women have different healthcare needs than men. This is most apparent in their musculoskeletal health. Beginning in adolescents, hormones are released in preparation for menstruation. This release results in changing the integrity of ligaments. The shape of the female pelvis changes and weakness in the hips and core become more obvious. Young females tend to have more ACL tears, knee and hip pain as a result.
